Best of Toronto: The County General
If you've never eaten at Queen Street West's The County General, make it your summer goal to change that state of affairs. With an interesting twist on nearly every dish they offer, The County General is a foodie's paradise. We ordered a wide array of offerings from their menu and I can genuinely say that I was not disappointed with a single one. Pictured above we have fresh oysters (my favourite) with a cucumber-chili mignonette, the crispy duck bites with a green onion, smoked maple pancake wrap and their signature dish - Korean Fried Chicken. The chicken is a full chicken served (or rather dumped) straight onto your table, doused in Korean BBQ sauce or Hoisin sauce and decked out with mint and cilantro leaves, sesame, pickled onions and drizzled with an avocado dressing. We also got the pork belly bun bites with teriyaki radish, the grilled octopus with salsa verde and a glass of Pimm's cup each. The music is an interesting rock mix that somehow perfectly compliments the meal every time.
