There are certain things that can bring you back to particular moments or eras of your life. Smells, music, food, snippets of conversation. 

When I heard about Teen Vogue shuttering their physical print editions, the nostalgia that accompanies all memories washed over me. 

I spent many years studying the editorial spreads, awaiting the next copy in my mailbox and memorizing the names of the photographers and models who graced the pages. When I started looking through past issues, I realized the images were tied to my teen years, full of turbulence and uncertainty, excitement and possibility. 

One thing I always loved about Teen Vogue was much as its older sibling did, Teen Vogue approached fashion holistically and diversely. Fashion can be a time capsule, a still representation of a moment in time, including the politics, societal forces, triumphs and downfalls. More often than not, it was optimistic. And it was open to all, a welcome rareity in the fashion industry. 

Later, Teen Vogue took on the role as a challenger to the status quo, a champion for human and women's rights, and an activist voice among many in the rising tides of xenophobia. 

For some, it was simply a teenage fashion magazine. But I think it was much more than that. So in honour of Teen Vogue's last print editions, here are eight of my favourite editorials.
